My Work
ODU Mental Health Symposium Event Brochure
While working on my capstone project on student athlete mental health, I was commissioned by one of my readers, Dr. Ron Moses, to design an ODU-branded brochure for a mental health symposium in April. I put it together by using fonts and colors compliant with ODU's brand guide. The brochure was delivered electronically to guests who RSVP'd but could also be used as a print brochure.

Virginia Symphony Orchestra Mailer
This is a postcard that I designed for the Virginia Symphony Orchestra for my COMM 590 class during the first year of my M.A. program. While researching the VSO, I had recognized that budget cuts and declining financial support for music programs in public schools as a problem for the organization. I decided to create this mailer emphasizing the factual benefits of fully funded music education programs in public schools, connecting the points to the public outreach the VSO does every year. This postcard can also be repurposed as an email flyer or social media post.

Elizabeth River Project Internship Mailer
This is a mailer that I designed for the Elizabeth River Project, also in COMM 590. They had repeatedly expressed that they were not satisfied with the amount of interns they were getting from ODU, so I made the suggestion to open up the types of interns they hire to include more marketing and communication adjacent student and used their brand guide at the time to design this door hanger style mailer to expand on that with suggestions of how each type of intern could fit into ERP operationally.

'The Illuminator' article for the College of Engineering and Technology
I wrote this article in 2019 after I was hired as a student writer by the College of Engineering and Technology for their magazine, The Illuminator. This was a rather daunting task, as I have no academic background in engineering. I soon learned that my job was to tell students' and faculties stories. While that did at times require me to learn and write about complex technological topics, that made it one of the most rewarding jobs I had at my time at ODU.

Virginia Golfer Cover Story on Michael McCartin
This is a magazine article that I wrote during my time with the Virginia State Golf Association in the Summer of 2020. The piece is a profile on Michael McCartin, a prolific golf course designer living out his dream of leading a total redesign of his childhood golf course. I also interviewed Michael's brother, Christopher McCartin, one of the most successful amateur golfers in Virginia history. Being able to get insight from someone who knew Michael for his entire life allowed me to really emphasize in the piece how much of a lifelong dream this redesign was for him.
